Why is my instant turf dying and how to fix this?

Why is my instant turf dying and how to fix this?

Everybody wants their instant turf to be strong, healthy and beautiful. However, if you’re not aware of how to properly maintain it, you could become discouraged if your turf becomes damaged or worse, dies. That’s why at Australian Seed and Turf, we’ve broken down some of the reasons why your instant turf may be dying, as well as easy hacks so that you can avoid this altogether.

Over or underwatering

Overwatering or underwatering your instant turf will cause damage to your lawn turf. Overwatering can kill off the nutrients that go into the soil and lead to thatching – a buildup of dead grass stems. On the other hand, underwatering can lead to dryness as your turf requires moisture to be healthy and strong.

So to avoid this and to ensure that your lawn remains lush and healthy, we suggest establishing a watering schedule specific to your turf type. For more information, contact one of our specialists.

Wrong type of soil

A healthy lawn requires a good foundation. The soil holds the nutrients that will allow your grass to flourish, which is why it’s critical to ensure that you are choosing the best soil for your turf.

To make sure you’ve given your soil the best chance to thrive, we suggest consulting a professional to help you prevent using the wrong soil for your lawn, or to identify any issues so you can revive your turf.

Infestation/disease

Infestation or disease causes damage to your turf and leads to the deterioration of the grass. There are several reasons as to why this could occur, such as nutrient deficiencies, bacteria, water loss, improper fertilisation or compacted soil. What you can do is begin a pest management system and seek help from a reliable service provider to help you deal with this issue.
